Freshers' reception and guardians' gathering was held at Jhenaidah polytechnic institute on Monday. The gathering was held at the auditorium of the institute with its principal Sajed Ur Rahman in the chair.
Teacher Sohrab Hossain presented the welcome speech, while teacher Mahbubul Islam, Rahmat Ullah, Fazlur Rahman, Pabitra Kumar Biswas scout member Shammi Islam among others spoke.
The speakers said the Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1972 immediate after the independence war of 1971, had directed the government administration to give emphasis on science and technology to coop with the time world wide. He realized that only academic education without technological knowledge was not enough to meet the demand of the time. The students completing their education in polytechnic and other technical institutions have been playing role in earning foreign currency and strengthen the national economy as well.
