French Ambassador in Bangladesh Jean Marin paid a courtesy call on Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin on Thursday morning.
The Ambassador's wife, Director of Aliens Frances Arman Rafi Nizam and Acting Chief Executive Officer Md. Abu Shahed Chowdhury were also present at the time. During the meeting, they discussed various issues, including investment and trade and commerce, besides matters related to the interests of both countries.
The CCC Mayor informed the ambassador about various activities of the corporation. He also notified the ambassador about the production of electricity from waste.
AJM Nasir Uddin expressed optimism that, like France, all ambassadors would continue to support Bangladesh's development.
In this regard, the City Mayor said that there are opportunities for French investment in Bangladesh's infrastructure, industrial, energy and maritime economic sectors.
Meanwhile, traders from various states, including Korea, China, are investing in the industrial zone. Even in the construction and launch of the Bangabandhu satellite, France is a big investment in business malls. The City Mayor expressed his gratitude to the Government of France and the business community of the country. Referring to investment in Bangladesh, the French ambassador said that the water refinery project in Dhaka Saidabad was funded by France. In the future, he informed the City Mayor that the French businessman has the will to implement such projects in different districts.
He added that France is working in different countries on the production of waste from electricity. In the future, the French government will invest in the Blue Economy along with the sector to collect hidden assets under the sea.
