Disney fans rejoice as the iconic mother-daughter duo from the 2003 hit film "Freaky Friday" are set to grace the screens once again in a much-anticipated sequel. Disney has officially given the green light for "Freaky Friday 2," with filming slated to commence this summer in Los Angeles.

Directed by the talented Nisha Ganatra, renowned for her work on Hulu's "Welcome to Chippendales," the sequel promises to deliver the same blend of heartwarming comedy that captured audiences' hearts over a decade ago.

Bringing back the original cast, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, discussions are currently underway for the duo to reprise their roles in the highly anticipated film.

Fans were sent into a frenzy when Jamie Lee Curtis shared a photo with Lindsay Lohan on Instagram, hinting at their involvement in the sequel.

This excitement only intensified with the news of Andrew Gunn, producer of the original film, returning

alongside former Disney executive Kristin Burr to produce the sequel. Ann Marie Sanderlin joins the team as executive producer.

While details about the film's release are yet to be confirmed, whether it will hit theaters or premiere on Disney+, anticipation is already building among audiences.

The "Freaky Friday" franchise, based on the 1972 children's book by Mary Rogers, has become a beloved staple in Disney's repertoire, with various adaptations and even a Broadway production. Penned by Jordan Weiss, the sequel aims to bring a fresh, multigenerational approach to the timeless concept of walking in someone else's shoes.

With Jamie Lee Curtis fresh off her recent Oscar win and Lindsay Lohan making a comeback with roles in popular Netflix romantic comedies, the sequel promises to deliver a nostalgic yet refreshing cinematic experience.

Director Nisha Ganatra, known for her adept touch in both television and film, is set to infuse her expertise into the project following her successful work on "Late Night" and "The High Note." With the return of familiar faces and promising new talent behind the camera, "Freaky Friday 2" is poised to captivate audiences once again with its heartwarming comedic storyline.
