Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) will adopt a four-tier security system to ensure flawless security of Sanatani devotees during the upcoming Durga Puja. The biggest religious festival of the Hindu community will take place in Bangladesh from October 20 to October 24.
CMP Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy said that one and a half thousand members of law enforcers will be deployed in the area of Chattogram city. “We are determined to help celebrate Puja properly in the port city properly.”
According to the type of puja mandaps, like every year, police and members of Ansar forces will perform joint duties in every mandap in Chattogram city. Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will be responsible for round-the-clock security.
A special team of fire brigade will be on round-the-clock duty for immediate fire control and during the idol’s release
CMP Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy said about the four-tier security system during a views-exchange meeting with leaders of the Chattogram Metropolitan Puja Udjapan Committee of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad and all Police Station Puja Udjapan Committee recently. The meeting was held on the occasion of the upcoming Durga Puja.
In this meeting, various problems and solutions of Puja celebration were discussed with the leaders of Sharadiya Durga Puja Udjapan Parishad in order to perform Durga Puja in Chattogram metropolitan area in a fair and peaceful manner.
The CMP commissioner assured all cooperation in maintaining law and order during the Puja celebrations.
Lion Ashish Kumar Bhattacharya, president of the Chattogram Metropolitan Puja Udjapan Parishad, said that all preparations are underway to complete the Durga Puja in a beautiful and disciplined manner.
Hillol Sen Ujjwal, General Secretary of Chattogram Metropolitan Puja Udjapan Parishad, said that no kind of DJ program and playing of Hindi songs on mike will be allowed in Chawa Mandap. Puja will be done according to theme and religious rules.
CMP Additional Commissioner (Administration and Finance) MA Masud said that security should be kept after the Arati. Volunteers and police should be alert. Generators and water supply should be maintained so that there is no safety gap. CC cameras and security systems should be kept from sixth.
The leaders of the Puja Udjapan committee present in the meeting were requested by the CMP to form a volunteer team at each Pujamandap and deploy the team members on security duty at all times and to wear prescribed clothes, ID cards, arm-bands for their identification.
Also, a decision was taken to arrange separate entry and exit routes for women and men to facilitate the entry of visitors to the Puja Mandaps.
In the meeting, the leaders were requested to install CCTV cameras, metal detectors, fire extinguishers and generators in every big puja mandap for the sake of security.
Moreover, it is humbly requested to everyone to temporarily switch off the sound system of the mandap during Azan and Namaz.
The CMP Commissioner assured everyone that maximum measures will be taken to provide security by strengthening police operations, increased patrolling, intelligence surveillance in plain clothes and regular inspection of each Puja mandap by senior officers to prevent mandap-centric drugs, looting and evictions in the entire metropolis during Durga Puja celebrations.
Moreover, he sought full cooperation from the people of the city to avoid illegal parking of cars, fairs and shops on the streets around the Puja Mandap and called upon them to contact 999 to get emergency services.
