Four Rohingyas arrested in Ukhiya

In a joint drive conducted by RAB-15, APBn, and BGB at Rohingya camp no. 14 in Ukhiya upazila of Cox's Bazar, four named suspects were arrested. The joint drive was conducted on Monday evening.

The arrestees were identified as Mohammad Ridwan, 21, Hafez Moinudin, 43, Mohammad Jaynal Uddin, 47 and Abdul Hakim, 47, all resident of Rohingya camp no. 14 in the upazila.

Additional Superintendent of Police of RAB-15 Md Abul Kalam Choudhury confirmed the matter.

He said that the arrested individuals are forcibly displaced citizens from a neighboring country. They have been charged in a case filed in Ukhiya Police and in another case in Shafiullahkata Police Camp. Since the filing of the cases, the accused had been hiding in various locations within the Rohingya camp to evade arrest by law enforcement forces.

A joint operation was conducted in the Hakimpara area by RAB-15, APBn-8, 14 APBn, and BGB to maintain normalcy and ensure security in the Rohingya camp on Monday. During the operation, four named suspects were arrested from the camp area, he added.

Superintendent of Police Md. Abul Kalam Chowdhury stated that the arrested suspects have been handed over to Ukhiya Police Station for further legal action.
