Even after the Eid vacation, trains bound for the capital or leaving the capital are still running behind schedule. This situation caught thousands of passengers waiting in train stations. With the existing fleet, six more trains were added while another six special train operated for eid holiday makers. Operating extra 12 trains with the existing six-schedule train caused the trans to delay.,
On the other hand, rail speed is restricted on Bangabandhu Bridge, while a train crosses the bridge, it needs to check the rail track, which at least needs 35-40 minutes to allow another train on the bridge, he added. But most of the trains delayed at least two hours to start its journey.
On Saturday, while visiting the Kamalapur Railway Station, this correspondent found that, trains running on west zone were delayed up to two to seven hours.
Dhumketu Express of Rajshahi left the station at 11 o’clock, which was scheduled to start its journey at 6 in the morning. Sundarban Express of Khulna was also delayed by five hours, Neelsagar Express of Chilahati delayed by four hours. Rangpur Express towards the capital reached seven hours behind schedule.
