Bangladesh Premier Football League team transfer ended on August 22 when 10 teams, of 12 performed their players’ registrations. Three days later, apart from Chittagong Abahani Limited and the champions Bashundhara Club, eight teams out of 10 had a meeting at the Mohammedan Club (MSC). They discussed about few demands to propose to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) before the kick off the upcoming football season.
Abu Hasan Chaudhury Prince, one of the directors and the secretary of the football committee of MSC, said, “The representatives of seven clubs had a meeting on Monday. We all agreed to present our four demands to BFF, and the first one is not to organize league matches of this season outside Dhaka.
Apart from the demand of canceling the venues outside Dhaka, the demands are - federation will have to pay the previous season's participation money, the foreign players’ quota will have to reduce from next season.
The last season’s league matches of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) held at Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka while Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Munshiganj, Gopalganj were the venues of outside Dhaka. Seven clubs proposed to organise the league at the Bangabandhu National Stadium and other stadiums in the city Dhaka besides Bashundhara Kings.
Meanwhile, Bashundhara Kings and CTG Abahani were not in the meeting as the MSC football secretary Prince told the Bangladesh Post on Tuesday.
Clubs explained the reasons not to go outside Dhaka when they said that there are a huge cost of accommodations and enormous troubles to travel outside Dhaka.
BPL was supposed to have 12 teams this season but Sheikh Russell and Sheikh Jamal withdrew their names following vandalising their clubs. Chittagong Abahani was the last to make their registrations.
One of the country's traditional club, Dhaka Abahani formed the team without foreign booters. Representatives of the eight clubs will meet Imrul Hasan, chairman of the Bangladesh Premier League football committee of the BFF.
BFF vice-president Imrul Hasan is also president of Bashundhara Kings. After discussion with the chairman of the league committee, the clubs will submit a formal letter to the BFF within two days.
