Four members a family including a woman were roasted alive in a fire incident at Kumartek area under Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj on Friday night.
The deceased were identified as Masum Mia, 40, his wife Mita Begum, 35, their sons Rahmatullah, 18 and Abdullah, 12.
The Fire Brigade and Civil Defense sources claimed that a torn off live electric wire touched the inmates’ tin-shed house and caught fire while all the members of the family were fast asleep.
Upon receiving information Fire Brigade men rush to the spot but all members of the family had died before their arrival.
Officer-In-Charge of Rupganj police station Mohsinul Kader said that all four of them died after being electrocuted. The family was not a local family.
Coming from some other districts, they lived on other people’s land in the area building a tin-shade house. So, their detailed identity remained unknown, he added.
