Four killed in Brahmanbaria road accident

Four people were killed and another was injured in a head-on collision between a pickup van and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Rampura area under Bijoynagar upazila of the district on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Dudu Mia, 62, Morsheda Begum, 50 and Farid Mia, 42, residents of Ibrahimpur village in Bijoynagar upazila and Hosne Ara Khatun, 48, a resident of Khatinga village of the upazila.

All of the deceased were passengers of the auto-rickshaw.

The accident occurred when the CNG-run auto-rickshaw heading towards Shahbazpur collided head-on with the pickup van coming from the opposite direction in the area around 6:45am, leaving two people dead on the spot and three others injured, said Md. Shahjalal, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khatihata Highway Police Station.

The injured were taken to Brahmanbaria General Hospital, where another died.

Later, seriously injured Farid Mia succumbed to his injuries on the way to Dhaka for better treatment.

Police seized the pickup van while its driver escaped from the scene.
