Law enforcement agency members at Deobhog area of Shariatpur sadar upazila have seized four excavators ( digging or vaccum machines) and arrested the owner of the machines on Friday evening. The machines were being used to dig ponds at the crop fields. Arrested mcahines owner has been identified as Humayun Kabir Bepari son of Kasem Bepari of Kutubpur area under Damuia upazila.
Mahbubur Rahman Sheikh, Upazila Nirabhi Officer of Shariatpur Upazila informed, the seized excavators have been kept at Palang Model Police station and those will be sold in auction. He further mentioned, there was no approval from the government to make fish ponds by digging cropland. Still, several ponds were being excavated on 30 acres of crop land of Deobhog area through excavators from Thursday night. Law enforcement agency members rushed to the spot and arrested the owner of the machines and seized four machines from the spot.
The law enforcement team members included several policemen from Palang Model thana, Chairman of Rudakur union Habibur Rahman Dhali, Assitant Union land officer Shahidul Islam and female member of the union Aklima Begum.
UNO office sources at Shariatpur informed, being informed that a vested quarter was digging ponds on the cropland at Deobhog under Rudrakar union, the law enforcement team members conducted operation at Deobhog area on Friday afternoon and arrested owner of the excavators Humayun and seized four vacuum or excavator machines.
