RAB 15 arrested four yaba and arms dealers along with two lakh pieces of yaba pills and a foreign pistol in Hnila area of Teknaf Upazila in Cox's Bazar.Lt. Col. HM Sajjad Hossain, captain of RAB 15, said in a briefing that RAB carried out this operation on Monday night.
In the briefing organized at the Cox's Bazar RAB 15 office on Tuesday afternoon, Lt. Col. Sajjad said that based on information from RAB's intelligence wing, the raiding team of RAB-15 found out that Yasin Arafat alias Kalu's drug syndicate is located in neighboring Myanmar through the border area of Teknaf Upazila's Hnila, which is used as a hub for drug trafficking.
Hnila is situated in East Jadimura area of Union with a large shipment of drugs.
In view of the said information, a team of RAB-15 took position last night.
At that time, after sensing the operation of RAB, Yasin Arafat alias Kalu, one of the notorious drug dealers and drug smugglers from neighbouring countries, was arrested while trying to escape.
During the initial interrogation, the arrested drug dealer admitted that he had Yaba pills in his residence.
Later, after searching his living room, two lakh pieces of Yaba pills were recovered from his possession.
On the other hand, another team of RAB arrested three terrorists, including Yaba trader Abul Kashem, from Raikyngkhali area of Hoikang Union of Teknaf last night and searched their hideout and recovered 1 foreign pistol and 02 rounds of bullets.
The arrested Kashem is the son of Mohammad Hossain of that area. The other two arrested are Nuruzzaman and Sakir Ahmed who hailed from Dakop area of Khulna district.
In the briefing, he said that after the establishment of the RAB-15 battalion, the anti-narcotics and illegal arms recovery operation has been conducted so far and two crore ninety six lakh seventy five thousand forty one pieces of Yaba pills and 50 foreign weapons, 494 indegenous weapons and 1627 rounds of bullets have been recovered.
