A four-day international art exhibition featuring artists from Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Indonesia began at the Zainul Gallery of Faculty of Fine Arts in Dhaka University on Thursday (November 2, 2023).
Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the art exhibition. Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh Heru Hartanto Subolo also attended the event.
The exhibition was organised by the Department of Graphic Design of the university.
The opening ceremony was chaired by the department head Professor Dr. Bhandresu Reeter. Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Professor Dr. Nisar Hossain, Rector of University Teknologi Mara of Malaysia Professor Dr. Nur Hisham Ibrahim, Deputy Rector of the Indonesian Cultural Art Institute of Bandung Professor Dr. Supriyatna and Associate Professor Md. Harun-Or-Rashid of the Department of Graphic Design of Dhaka University were also present at the event.
In his speech, Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman congratulated the artists from Dhaka University, Malaysia, and Indonesia for participating in the exhibition.
He said that such events are very important for conducting joint collaborative education and research activities. Such collaborative activities between different countries will play a vital role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), he added.
He expressed the hope that this exhibition will further strengthen the cultural and artistic exchange between Bangladesh and the two other countries as well as their friendly relations.
The exhibition features 24 artworks by 12 artists from the Department of Graphic Design of the Dhaka University, nine artworks by eight artists from the University of Teknologi Mara of Malaysia, and three artworks by three artists from the Indonesian Cultural Art Institute of Bandung.
The exhibition will end on Sunday (November 5, 2023). The exhibition is open to the public from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm daily.
