Four councilor candidates have been reprimanded for violating the code of conduct in Mymensingh City Corporation (MCC) elections.
Assistant Returning Officer Sheikh Muhammad Habibur Rahman issued a show cause notice for campaigning by putting up colorful posters in different areas of the city even though it is prohibited to carry out any kind of election campaign before getting the symbol according to the rules of the City Corporation Election Conduct.
The candidates who received showcause notices are Md Nazrul Islam and Md. Kamal Khan of Ward No. 17 of the city and Afsana Akhter and Rozina Akhter Mukta of Ward No. 6.
It is noted that the candidates gave a written undertaking that they will remove all types of posters and banners, and stop election campaigns on their own initiative within 24 hours at the time of nomination papers collection.
