Members of RAB-6 on Tuesday detained four fugitives who were accused in a case of gang rape of a woman in Satkhira.
The accused were detained after conducting a drive at Palashpole New Market area of the town on Tuesday night. The mater was confirmed on Wednesday trough a press release signed by RAB-6 Satkhira Camp Commander ASP Nazmul Haque.
The detainees are Sultan Ahmed, son of Montu Karikor, resident of Palashpole area in the town, Abdul Gafur Gazi, son of Sattar Gazi, Abdul Hossain Jony, son of Kamal Hossain, resident of Palashpole Dakkhirpara area, and Jummatul Islam Boni, son of Siddiqul Islam Babu, resident of Kamalnagar village.
The source said the victim is a woman of Chapra village in Assasuni Upazila who suffered a head injury and became mentally unstable. At one point, without telling anyone of her house, she went to Satkhira town on the evening of August 26 in order to go to Dhaka. Her father started searching for her. At one point of the searching, someone called him in his cell phone and said her daughter is behind New Market in Satkhira town. On the next morning, the victim’s father went to Satkhira town and rescued her daughter from the middle room of the ground floor of an unknown person’s house behind the New Market in Satkhira town.
After the victim was rescued, she told her father that she was walking and reached behind the New Market where she slipped and fell into a pond. Md Sultan Ahmed, Md Shanto, Md Faysal Babu, Md Abdul Hossain Jony, Md Abdul Gafur Gazi and Md Jummatul Islam Boni took her out of the pond at that time. They pressed her mouth, threatened her and gang raped her one after another.
The father of the victim filed a rape case with Satkhira police station under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act in connection with this incident as the plaintiff. In view of that, members of RAB-6 Satkhira Camp conducted a drive and detained the four accused.
