A murder case has been filed against two former Members of Parliament (MPs) -- Muhammad Saiful Islam, also General Secretary of Ashulia Thana Awami League (AL), and Talukder Tauhid Jang Murad -- in connection with the death of a class-10 student in Savar during the anti-discrimination student movement on August 5.
The deceased's cousin Sahid Hasan Mithu filed the case against a total of 119 people, including the former lawmakers from Savar, on Friday night.
Ashulia Thana AL President Faruk Hasan Tuhin, Savar Municipal AL President Abdul Gani, Pathalia Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Parvez Dewan, Ashulia UP Chairman Sahabuddin Madbar, Yarpur UP Chairman Suman Bhuiya, Savar Upazila AL former General Secretary Ali Haider and Ashulia Thana Jubo League Convener Kabir Hossain Sarkar are among the accused.
In the case, many unnamed persons were also made accused.
According to the case statement, As-Sabur, 16, a student of class 10, went to the
Bypile area from Shimultala, where he used to live with his family, around
11:00 am on August 5.
After receiving a phone call around 2:00 pm, the plaintiff went to the Bypile intersection area and found the victim's mutilated body lying there.
The case statement also mentioned that the victim was beaten and shot dead by the cadres of Awami League and its affiliated organisations.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ashulia Police Station AFM Syed said, "We are working to arrest the accused soon."
