Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury on Sunday said officials of forest department must ensure conservation and protection of biodiversity, forests and wildlife.
"The forest officials should contribute to creating desired afforestation in the country," the environment minister said while addressing the orientation meeting of newly appointed 34 assistant forest conservators (41st BCS forest cadre).
The meeting was held at the meeting room of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change at the Bangladesh Secretariat in the capital.
Speaking as the chief guest, Saber Hossain said the forest officials should be committed to conserving forests and wildlife and should be devoted to the welfare of the state and its people.
"We have to build ourselves as an institution," he added.
Chaired by Environment Secretary Dr Farhina Ahmed, the meeting was attended, among others, by Additional Secretary (Administration) of the ministry Iqbal Abdullah Harun, Chief Conservator of Forests Md Amir Hosain Chowdhury and Deputy Secretary Forest Abu Naeem Mohammad Maruf Khan.
