Foreign Secretary Ambassador Masud Bin Momen has been promoted to the position of Senior Secretary to the government of Bangladesh.
He joined as the Foreign Secretary on 31 December 2019.
As a career diplomat, Ambassador Momen served in different capacities at the headquarters and Bangladesh Missions abroad. He belongs to the Bangladesh Civil Service (Foreign Affairs) 1985 Batch. He topped the combined merit list of the Bangladesh Civil Service 1985 Batch.
Prior to his appointment as the Foreign Secretary, he served as the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations since 2015.
Before that, he served as the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Japan from 2012 to 2015.
He also served as Ambassador of Bangladesh to Italy and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Food Programme (WFP) and International Fund for Agricultural Development from 2008 to 2012.
“An extremely amicable, efficient, learned and seasoned officer, Ambassador Masud Bin Momen, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a tremendous inspiration for all,” the foreign ministry said in its official facebook page.
