The ‘external publicity’ (EP) wing of the foreign ministry has been renamed as the ‘public diplomacy’.
In a statement on Sunday, the ministry said the decision had been taken as part of the overhauling measures of the EP wing to connect people at home and abroad.
There will be structural changes of the external publicity wing apart from the name changing.
The EP wing is currently headed by a director general with two directors, two deputy directors, two senior assistant secretaries and one assistant secretary.
The foreign ministry said the new public diplomacy wing will work to inform people about the foreign policy of the government, and activities of the ministry.
It will also counter the negative propaganda in the domestic and international arena to build a positive image of the country.
