Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has suspected that “some vested quarters” killed the Rohingya leader Mohib Ullah as he wanted to return to his own country Myanmar.

In a statement, he also asserted that the killers must be brought to justice.

“No one will be exempted,” he said, adding that stern action would be taken against those who were involved in the murder.

Gunmen shot dead Mohib Ullah, 44, chairman of the Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights (ARSPH), at the Kutupalong camp Wednesday night.

His assassination drew worldwide outrage, with the international community condemning the murder as he was a vocal for Rohingya repatriation. Police on Friday arrested Mohammad Selim alias Lomba Selim from a camp in Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhiya in this connection.

Bangladesh has given shelter to over 1.1 million Rohingya refugees, most of whom fled ‘ethnic cleansing’ in August 2017.

Myanmar signed deals with Bangladesh to take back them. But none of them returned despite the government’s efforts.
