Five including caretaker of Jashore Child Development Center, remanded for three days

Five people, including the caretaker of Jessore Child Development Center, have been remanded for three days in connection with the incident 0of death of teenagers.

Judge Mahadi Hasan of Jashore Judicial Magistrate’s Court granted them remand on Saturday (August 15th) afternoon.

The five are Assistant Director Abdullah Al Masud, Assistant Supervisor Masum Billah, Psychosocial Counselor (Probation Officer) Mushfiqur Rahman, Physical Education Teacher Omar Faruq and Technical Teacher Shahanur Alam.

Their arrest was shown on Friday (August 14) night.  Investigating officer Rokibuzzaman, in-charge of Chanchra police outpost, later remanded them in court for seven days.

The Ministry of Social Welfare has suspended the caretaker of the Child Development Center, Abdullah Al Masud, over the death of teenagers.

On 13 August, a fight broke out between two groups of teenagers at the Jashore Child Development Center. Those involved in the incident were identified by watching CCTV footage. Then on Thursday (August 13th) noon, in the presence of the officers, Ansar members and some teenagers on their orders beat at least 18 people. They were left in critical condition. Some people thought they were unconscious .  But later they realize they were dead. Then one by one their bodies were brought to the hospital in the evening.

The deceased have been identified as Parvez Hasan Rabbi, 18, son of Roka Miah of Daulatpur police station, Khulna, registration number 118553, Rasel alias Sujan, 18, son of  Nurul Islam Nuru of Sherpur upazila of Bogra district registration number 7524 and Nanu Pramanik, 17, son of Shibganj upazila of the same district, registration number 11907.

At least 17 others were injured.  Police rescued the injured and admitted them to Jashore General Hospital.
