Chattogram Shilpakala Academy has honoured five individuals in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the field of art and culture.The persons, who have been honoured at the initiative of the district administration, are Maududul Alam (photography category), Shuvra Biswas (drama), Chandra Shekhar Dey (fine arts), freedom fighter Jayanti Lala (vocal music) and Swapan Kumar Das (dance category).
On Thursday afternoon, the talented persons were given the honour in an event at Chittagong District Shilpakala Academy Auditorium. At the end of the programme, chief guest Khalil Ahmad, secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, presented floral greetings, uttario (scarf), honourary crests and certificates to the recipients.
Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman presided over the programme while Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Parishad member and Ekushey Padak awardee actor Ahmed Iqbal Haider and District Shilpakala Academy Chittagong General Secretary Saiful Alam Babu were present as special guests. At the beginning of the programme, District Cultural Officer Md Moslem Uddin gave a welcome speech. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Md Sadiur Rahman Jadid and member of the awarding committee Alok Ghosh Pintu, among others, spoke at the programme.
