Two more bodies washed ashore at Inani sea beach in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Saturday who went missing after a trawler capsized in the sea due to the gusty wind. With this, a total of five bodies, including bodies of fishermen, have been recovered in two days.
Inspector of Inani Police outpost Rezaul Karim said the two bodies washed ashore at Inani sea beach under Jaliapalong union in Ukhiya upazila at around 2:30pm on Saturday.
One of the deceased was identified as Abdul Karim, 35, resident of Raipur union in Banshkhali upazila of Chattogram. He was a fisherman in a trawler named FB Abdul Samad Saha owned by Abul Bashar, a resident of Banshkhali upazila.
The identity of the other deceased could not be known immediately, said Inspector Rezaul Karim.
Earlier, two bodies of fishermen were recovered from Kolatoli point of Cox’s Bazar sea beach and Pechar Dwip beach point at Ramu upazila on Friday afternoon. Another body was recovered from Samiti Para point of Cox’s Bazar sea beach on Saturday morning.
Rezaul Karim said the locals informed the police when they saw two bodies washed ashore at Inani sea beach on Saturday noon. Later, a team of police visited the spot and recovered the bodies with the help of the locals.
He said a trawler named FB Abdul Samad Saha capsized in the sea on Friday due to bad weather. Two fishermen died in the incident.
Quoting the owner of the trawler, he said there were 11 fishermen in the trawler. It capsized in the sea near Inani sea beach due to the gusty wind. Although nine fishermen were rescued alive in this incident, two others went missing.
The two bodies were sent to Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital, said Inspector Rezaul Karim.
