Programme for releasing fish fries in inland wetlands, floodplains and institutional reservoirs under the revenue sector of 2024-25 fiscal year was held in Gurudaspur Upazila of Natore district on Tuesday.
The fish fries were released in various areas of Gurudaspur Upazila, including the Bilsha area of Chalan Beel in Khubjipur union of the Upazila, at around 12:00pm on Tuesday. Fish farmers from various areas came and collected fish fries and released them in various areas of the Upazila.
The programme was presided over by Natore Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md Asadul Islam. Natore District Fisheries Officer Dr Md Abul Kalam Azad attended the programme as the chief guest.
Moreover, Agricultural Officer Harunur Rahsid, Livestock Officer Dr Alamgir Hossain and Cooperative Officer Md Rabiul Rana were present in the programme as special guests.
Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Ratan Chandra Saha implemented the programme.
Besides them, members of upazila fish farmer organization participated in the programme.
A total of 375 kg of fish fries were released in various areas of Gurudaspur Upazila. Through this initiative, efforts have been made to conserve and increase production of Chalanbil's fisheries. The officers concerned expressed hope that this type of activities will play an important role to conserve aquatic resource and improve the livelihood of the local people.
