Fishing festival has been celebrated at Basail of Tangai. The locals organised the traditional festival on Saturday at " Atila Bill" of "Kauljani Chakpara" upzilla.
The locals informed that fishing festival is celebrated each year on different beels (water bodies) including Bartha Beel', 'Nundha Bil', 'Nirayl', 'Katil', 'and Atil Beel'.
This year, hundreds of people coming from Sakhipur & Kalihati attended in groups firstly at Atil Beel with different fishing accessories like Polo & Fishing Net.
Many ones caught Boal, Minar Cap, Shoul and other fishes gladly. Mofizuddin from Kochua village of Sakhipur regularly tattend the festival. He caught some Shouls and other fishes too. He will attend again, he said.
Kabel Mia from the same locality informed that they wait for the festival each year. He added, firstly, the date is fixed and then announce in the local hats & bazars.
People are informed about the date and names of the beels for this fishing festival.
