A fish farmer was killed as some miscreants shot him at Malamot village under Malkhanagar union in Sirajdikhan Upazila of Munshiganj district on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Nasir Sheikh, 48, son of late Samad Sheikh, resident of Malamot village in the upazila. He was a fish farmer by profession.
The incident occurred in front of Malamot Jame Masjid when Nasir Sheikh was going home at around 10:30pm on Saturday. He was rushed to Ichhapura Health Complex where the on-duty doctor Mushfiqur Rahman Rajib said Nasir Sheikh died before he was brought to the hospital. However, there was injury mark from bullet on his throat.
The relatives of the deceased claimed Nasir was shot due to a land dispute.
Brother of the deceased, Selim Sheikh, claimed his brother was killed by Babu and Nayan, sons of Nuru Sheikh of their village, in a pre-planned manner over a land dispute.
Officer-in-Charge of Sirajdikhan Police Station, Md Muzahidul Islam, said the murder might have been killed due to land-related dispute.
The body was sent to Mushiganj General Hospital for autopsy. The matter is being investigated, he said.
