To eliminate the labour crisis and encourage farmers to use modern technology, for the first time farmers are benefiting in shortest time by using harvester machine in Boro paddy harvesting in Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur.
Cutting and threshing of Boro paddy with harvester machine started in Chirirbandar for the first time with the help of Chirirbandar Upazila Agriculture Extension Department.
Chirirbandar upazila Agriculture Extension Department sources said that three combine harvester machines have been distributed in Dinajpur during this harvesting season.
On Monday morning, the cutting and threshing of paddy with the combine harvester machine begin at the Bri-28 rice field of Hirendra Nath Roy at Shankoir village in Auliapukur union of the upazila.
On the first day of the harvesting with the harvester machine, Chiribandar Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Mahmudul Hasan, Agriculture Extension Officer Md. Delwar Hossain, Deputy Assistant Plant Conservation Officer Dinesh Chandra Roy, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Foni Bhusan Ray and others were present.
This machine will be of great benefit to us, said local farmer Hirendra Nath Roy. Within a short time, paddy can be cut and threshed at a lower cost, he added.
Farmer Noor Ahmed said that when rice starts to be picked up together, it is not possible to get rice in the house on time due to the labour crisis. It also destroys many rice. Besides, the cost of raising rice in the house was greatly reduced due to using the harvesting machine.
The cost of labour is much lower if the rice is cut by the Combine Harvester, said Md. Mahmudul Hasan, the Upazila Agriculture Officer. This machine can cut down the paddy of 3 Bighas of land per hour. The fuel that rewuires is 14 litres of diesel. It costs From Tk 800 to 900. Moreover, during disastrous time paddy can be cut within shortest time using this machine, he added.
