First death anniv of Sadek Bachchu

The first death anniversary of veteran actor Sadek Bachchu was on Tuesday September 14.  He breathed his last while being treated at the Universal Medical College Hospital in the capital on September 14, 2020.

Mahbub Ahmed, popularly known as Sadek Bachchu in the film industry, was born on 1 January 1955 in Haziganj, Chandpur.  His five-decade career has been on stage, radio, television and cinema.

In the early 7o’s, producer Abdullah Yusuf Imam saw Sadek Bachchu performing in a play on the stage of Mahila Samiti and called him on BTV.  In 1974, he acted in the play on BTV titled 'Prothom Angikar'.  The number of plays he has acted in is more than a thousand. 

A retired employee of Bangladesh Post Office, Sadek Bachchu entered the silver screen in 1985 directed by Shahidul Amin titled ‘Ramer Sumoti’ and acted in over 500 films till date. His career skyrocketed with Ehteshamul Haq’s acclaimed film ‘Chandni’ which cemented his identity as a regular in negative roles.

Notable films of this actor includes ‘Sujon Sakhi’, ‘Papi Shatru’, ‘Ananda Ashru’, ‘Lal Badsha’, ‘Moron Kamor’, ‘Sahoshi Manush Chai’, ‘Mon Bosena Porar Table-e’, ‘Amar Swapna Amar Songsar’, ‘Judge Barrister Police Commissioner’, ‘Mohua Sundori’ ‘Purnodoirgho Prem Kahini 2’, ‘Ektu Cinemar Golpo’. His latest released movie is Shakib Khan's 'Bir'. In 2016, Sadek Bachchu won the only national film award of his career as the best actor for his role as “Khal” in ‘Ekti Cinemar Golpo’.
