Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense has experimentally launched a new 3-digit hotline number 102 in the Dhaka Central Control Room for any fire-related information.
To get emergency services, this hotline number will be available from any part of Bangladesh initially from all operators except T&T.
The T&T landline users will be able to get the service soon, says a press release.
In is mentionable that the 11-digit phone number 02223355555 and the 5-digit hotline number 16163, which are currently operating in the control room, will also remain operational.
However, after December 31, 2024, the 16163 hotline will be discontinued, and only the 102 hotline number will be active, it added.
Fire Service and Civil Defense provide service on information basis. Earlier, 5 digit hotline number 16163 was introduced as 11 digit telephone numbers are difficult to remember in case of emergency.
In an effort to make the services easier, the Fire Service took the initiative to launch a 3-digit 102 hotline number.
