The Fire Service and Civil Defence have made a heartfelt gesture of solidarity by donating Tk 10 lakh to the public relief fund for flood victims. The check was presented to the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement's coordinators during a heartfelt ceremony held at the Directorate of Fire Services and Civil Defence on Sunday.
Brigadier General Md Main Uddin, the Director General of the Directorate, handed over the check to Sarjis Alam, Coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. The ceremony began with a moment of silence honouring those who lost their lives in the student anti-discrimination movement.
In his address, Brigadier General Md Main Uddin paid tribute to the sacrifices made by both the martyrs of the student movement and the dedicated personnel of the fire service, including their contributions during the liberation war. He also extended his wishes for the speedy recovery of those affected by the recent unrest.
Sarjis Alam, in his speech, lauded the firefighters for their unwavering commitment, emphasising their readiness to assist during crises despite personal sacrifices. He expressed deep gratitude for the relief effort and urged the continued support and vigilance of the fire service.
The ceremony also saw the fire service and civil defence send relief supplies, including three vehicles, to the student movement coordinators in Feni and Noakhali.
Present at the event were directors, officers, and staff of the Directorate, as well as key figures from the student movement, including Sarjis Alam, Mahin Sarkar, Jahangir Alam, and Abdur Rahman.
This gesture underscores the enduring spirit of cooperation and support in times of crisis, showcasing the vital role of community solidarity in overcoming adversity.
