Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) Chairman freedom fighter Mohammad Yunus had a meeting with Deputy Director of Fire Service and Civil Defence Chattogram Division Dinmoni Sharma regarding the fire of Reazuddin Bazar in Chattogram.
The discussion was held at the CDA chairman's office on Sunday.
The decisions of the discussion are- the road must be kept at 20 feet wide for the approval of multi-storied buildings, the copy of CDA approval will be given to the fire service and civil defence to ensure fire safety of the constructed building, a joint survey will be completed between fire service and civil defence and CDA to restructure Reazuddin Bazar, and legal action against the buildings would be taken if the approval by the CDA is not followed.
CDA Chairman Md Yunus said we cannot gift a death trap to our future generation. We have to give them a beautiful and well-planned city. So, we all have to work together.
Dinmoni Sharma, Deputy Director of Fire Service and Civil Defence Chattogram Division, said according to our own survey report, there are about 13,547 shops in Reazuddin Bazar. It is unreachable to go in most places of it with our rescue equipment.
Besides, he assured the CDA chairman that he will work jointly to develop Chattogram city as a planned city.
CDA Chief Engineer Kazi Hasan Bin Shams, Secretary Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Secretary Amal Guha, Executive Engineer Rajeeb Dash, Executive Engineer Bishwanath Biswas, Executive Engineer Kazi Quader Newaz, Executive Engineer AHM Misbah Uddin, Authorized Officer-1 Md Hasan, Authorized Officer-2 Tanjib Hossain and Fire Service and Civil Defence Warehouse Inspector Md Omar Faruq Bhuiyan were present in the views-exchange meeting.
