A devastating fire broke out in Patilapur area under Daldalia union at Ulipur upazila in Kurigram on Wednesday night.
Three houses were gutted and four cattle were burnt to death in the fire incident.
The fire originated from electric short circuit. The affected family claimed that a loss of Tk 5 lakh has been estimated in the fire.
It was known that the fire was originated from the electric short circuit of the cattle shed at the house of Abul Hossain on Wednesday night. The fire spread quickly as jute sticks were stockpiled at the cattle shed.
One unit of Ulipur Fire Service with the help of the locals doused the fire after an effort of one hour.
However, the cattle shed, houses, furniture, rice, paddy and other stuffs of the house were burnt to ashes in the fire.
Wife of victim Abul Hossain, Zobeda Begum, said that her family has lost everything in the fire. There is nothing to wear and eat.
Ulipur Fire Service and Civil Defense Station Leader Abdur Razzak Mondol said it is assumed that the fire was originated from the electric short circuit. However, the amount of loss will be known after an investigation.
Ulipur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Ataur Rahman said it is a sad incident. The family will be helped.
