Opponents allegedly assaulted and vandalised the houses of Freedom fighters (FF) and teachers in Tilchhara village of Orakandi union under Gopalganj’s Kashiani upazila. The victim's family is spending their days in fear.
Locals said Sardar Hafizur Rahman, a teacher from Tilchhara village, along with his three brothers Freedom Fighter Hemayet Uddin Sardar, expatriate Harun-ur-Rashid Sardar and Azizur Rahman Sardar lives in their ancestral land in the village. Adjacent to their house Jamal Mia's two sons Arman Mia and Zillur Rahman moved recently. Hafizur Rahman. So, on the morning of 16th August, both the parties came together to measure their land.
At one stage of the land survey, the people of Arman Mia started abusing Hafizur Rahman's people in vain language to ban the survey of the land. At this Hafizur Rahman's nephew Rajib Sardar replied angrily.
On the same day, Arman's men, armed with local weapons, ransacked the house of expatriate Azizur Sardar and looted his belongings. Later, Arman's men chased them and vandalized the house of teacher Sardar Hafizur Rahman indiscriminately. Arman's younger brother Zillur Rahman along with his men beat and seriously injured his nephew Aminur Rahman and neighbor Ripon Mollah when they came to help.
Seeing the situation, the victim's family called 999 and asked for emergency help. After receiving the news, Kashiani police went to the spot and brought the situation under control. The two seriously injured people were first admitted to Kashiani Upazila Health Complex. Later, Ripon Mollah was sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
In this regard, Amran Mia said, "We will resolve the incident locally”. Regarding house vandalism, he said that if there is a house where there is a fight, there is a little damage.
The family of the freedom fighter and the teacher have been living in extreme insecurity and fear since the incident and the victim's family told the media that the concerned authorities should intervene to provide them immediate legal assistance in this regard.
