Christmas, the biggest religious festival of Christians is next Sunday. All the preparations are done to celebrate the day. The festival will begin with prayers at 12:01 pm on Saturday. About 345 families in three villages of Sirajdikhan are preparing to celebrate the festival. Preparations for Christmas decoration are going on in Shulpur Christianpalli of Kayin Union of Upazila. All kinds of Pithapuli arrangements are being kept to avoid any kind of error in entertaining the guests. The Christmas tree is being decorated in front of the house. Although the waiting period is not long, the mood of the festival prevails in the families of the only Christianpalli in the district. Shulpur 'Sadhu Joseph Church' of Sirajdikhan Upazila is decorated with dazzling lights. Inside the church is an image of Jesus Christ on Mother Mary's lap inside a beautiful chapel.
A special team of volunteers has been formed to ensure uninterrupted flow of pilgrims coming to pray. All in all, the mood of the festival is prevailing in Shulpur village, the only Christian village in the district. College student Shruti Rosario, a volunteer worker of Saint Joseph Church, said that celebrating Christmas this year is very important for us Christians. As always we are delighted to be able to help with the church clean up. Many weddings are organized among Christians around this day. That is why all the relatives are present on this day more than other times. Strict security arrangements have been made for the smooth observance of religious and other festivals. Nayan Rosario, President of Munshiganj District Christian Association and Member of Ward No. 5 of Cain Union Parishad, said, "We are organizing the program spontaneously because the police and administration are fully cooperating with us in conducting the religious program. Moreover, people of other religions in this upazila will join our program and make the program more colorful and lively.
Father Lintu de Costa, pastor of the Christian community, said that the church is being decorated colorfully. The people of the Christian community are spending their time busy with various activities such as lighting the house, making a cowshed, decorating the Christmas tree.
They have already come to the village house from different parts of the country. Nagarkirtan is going on from house to house to tell everyone the message of the coming of Jesus. Jesus showed people the way to salvation and goodness.
The birth date of Jesus Christ will eliminate the conflict and discrimination among all.
This religious guru said that this Christmas is being celebrated with the message of establishing peace in society and among people.
In this regard, Sirajdikhan Police Station OC Md. AKM Minhajul Haque said that strict security arrangements have been made by the police administration to properly observe the biggest religious festival of Christians.
