Three fertilizer traders were fined by a mobile court for selling fertilizers at more than the price fixed by the government in Jibannagar of Chuadanga on Tuesday afternoon.
Jibannagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate SM Munim Lincoln imposed the fine during the mobile court drive conducted at Uthli Bazar in the Upazila. Upazila Agriculture Officer Sharmin Akhter assisted in the mobile court.
According to sources, those retailers were selling TSP and DAP fertilizers at a price Tk 300 400 higher than the government fixed price in Uthli Bazar of Jibannagar Upazila. Upon receiving the news, Jivannagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer SM Munim Lincoln went to Uthli Bazaar.
Khaled Masood, a retailer, was fined Tk 1,000, Rashidul Islam Tk 1,000 and Anisur Rahman Tk 3,000 for selling fertilizers at exorbitant prices at the time.
UNO SM Munim Lincoln in the mobile court said strict action would be taken against any fertilizer trader who sells fertilizer at a price higher than the price fixed by the government.
