The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) has provided food items and relief materials to the students for distributing those among the flood-hit people of the country.
A delegation of the FBCCI handed over the food items and relief materials to the students at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University (DU) on Tuesday night for distributing those among the flood-affected people in Cumilla, Noakhali, Feni and Chattogram districts.
The items include dry foods, purified water, oral saline, water purification tablets, rice, lentil, edible oil, spices and other necessary items, said an FBCCI press release here today.
FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam said it is the moral duty of the businessmen to stay beside the flood-hit people of the country.
"The way that the youth folk have come forward with the motto of ensuring
equal rights for all and building a discrimination-free country will motivate
the countrymen," he said.
The chief of the country's apex trade body also said that the FBCCI, as the
representative of the private sector, would stand beside the affected people
in the future like in the past.
According to the release, the FBCCI has already made a fervent call to the
business community and people from all walks of life to stand beside the
flood-stricken people and they are also responding to their call.
FBCCI vice-president Md Munir Hossain, directors Mir Nizam Uddin, Nizamuddin
Rajesh, Khandaker Ruhul Amin, Ishakul Islam Sweet, Shahidul Haque Molla and
business leaders were present, among others.
