FBCCI inspects kitchen market to rein in prices of essentials

In a serious bid to keeping the supply chain smooth bringing the market syndicate under control, the country's apex trade body, FBCCI has inspected and monitored kitchen markets.

As part of the move a FBCCI team led by it's Administrator Md Hafizur Rahman on Sunday visited the city's main wholesale market Karwan Bazar.

After inspecting the market, the Administrator Md. Hafizur Rahman participated in a discussion meeting at the market premises.

While addressing, Hafizur urged retailers and wholesalers to be more responsible to keep the prices of daily necessities at a reasonable level.

The meeting was presided over by Md. Omar Faruk, president of the Karwan Bazar Arat Business Multipurpose Cooperative Society. 

He said that the cooperation of traders will continue in the regular program of FBCCI in market monitoring. Saifur Rahman Chowdhury, General Secretary of Karwan Bazar Arat Business Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Abu Bakkar Siddique, Secretary General of Kawran Bazar Kitchen Market Association, Md. Imran Master, President of Bangladesh Raw Material Arat Owners Association and General Council Member of FBCCI, Mohammad Monirul Islam, General Secretary of Bangladesh Raw Material Dealers Association and General Council Member of FBCCI and other business leaders were also present in the meeting.

FBCCI’s market monitoring revealed that Beef was sold at Tk 750 per kg on Sunday while mutton at Tk 1,000 per kg.

Broiler chicken was available for Tk 200 per kg, while sonali chicken ranged from Tk 280 to Tk 300. Eggs were selling at Tk 165 per dozen. 

Potatoes were priced at Tk 55 per kg, eggplant at Tk 80 per kg, green chillies at Tk 280 to Tk 300 per kg, and local onions at Tk 110 per kg. Price lists were prominently displayed in all shops.
