He was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion organized by Bangladesh National Democratic League on the occasion of the 90th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's wife, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's mother, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib at Meherab Plaza on Saturday.
He said that in the first half of the twentieth century, Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib came out in a bold step ignoring the siege of women. Not as a wife, but as a political colleague, Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib was the shadow companion of his lifelong beloved husband Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Until the last moment of her life she was by the side of Sheikh Mujib, the great hero of history.
The organization's president MA Jalil presided over the discussion, the former ambassador to the professor Nim Chandra Bhowmik, Bangladesh NAP Secretary General M. Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan, NDP Secretary General. Manjur Hossain Isa, Bangladesh Jasad leader Humayun Kabir, political ASM Mostafa Kamal, Bangladesh NAP Vice Chairman Swapan Kumar Saha and others were present.
Former ambassador Nim Chandra Bhowmik said that Bangamata has contributed in every step of the struggle for the establishment of the Bangladesh and that is not as Bangabandhu's wife, but as a skilled woman organizer. She sacrificed herself like incense and played a role in the liberation struggle of the Bengalis and helped Bangabandhu to become the greatest Bangali.
Bangladesh NAP Secretary General M. Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan said, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is the great leader of the long struggle for the liberation of Bangladesh, independence and nation building. Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib is the name that is reverently pronounced along with his name. Whenever we talk about Bangabandhu, the name of Bangamata comes along.
He said that the contribution of Bangamata behind Sheikh Mujib becoming Bangabandhu is undeniable and she is the pride of our nation. She has made an outstanding contribution behind the scenes in the construction of Sonar Bangla. She never thought of her own happiness and pleasure. She thought about the country, the people of the country and the leaders and workers.
He further said that during Bangabandhu's captive life Bangamata single handedly handled his sons, daughters, his family and also thought of the leaders and workers.
In his speech, MA Jalil said that Fazilatunnesa Mujib was a great source of inspiration for the struggling life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Sheikh Mujib has become Bangabandhu with her inspiration. Fazilatunnesa's political foresight was unparalleled and she always supported Bangabandhu.
He said that Fazilatunnesa Mujib had given courage to Bangabandhu as a behind-the-scenes soldier of independence. She is deeply involved in the independence of the country along with Bangabandhu. So there is no chance of removing her from history.
