Nazim Uddin Saiful (42), a father of three, committed suicide in Mirsharai by consuming fish poison gas medicine due to extramarital affairs. He is the son of deceased Anwar Alam of Chunimizhirtek area of Ichakhali union of that upazila.
According to the locals, Nazim Uddin Saiful of Siraj Mia's house of Chunimizhirtek village of Ichakhali union committed suicide by consuming fish poison gas medication last Saturday at around 12:30 pm due to an extramarital relationship with a housewife of the same house. Zorarganj Thana Police recovered the body from Upazila Health Complex Mustannagar Hospital and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Zohra Begum, a reserved woman member of Ward No. 7 of Ichakhali Union Parishad, said that Nazim Uddin Saiful was engaged in extramarital affairs with a housewife of the same house for 7 years, but the matter was resolved through village arbitration several times, but they repeatedly engaged in extramarital affairs.
In between, after a few days of no contact, he recently re-engaged in extramarital affairs. Saiful, an estranged lover, committed suicide due to anger and shame on the woman involved in an estranged relationship due to quarrels in their married life.
Sub Inspector (SI) of Zorarganj Police Station Sajjad Hossain said that a young man named Nazim Uddin Saiful tried to commit suicide by drinking poison due to alienation and was admitted to Mustannagar Hospital in Upazila Health Complex.
The doctor on duty there declared him dead. His body was recovered from there and sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CHMEC) for autopsy. He committed suicide by consuming poisonous fish gas medicine out of anger and pride over his foreign lover. A case of wrongful death was registered at Zorarganj police station on Sunday night and the body was handed over to Saiful's wife Nasima Akhtar.
