Assistant Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh and Director of Jamaat Rangpur-Dinajpur unit, Maulana Abdul Halim, said the fascist Awami League government has killed democracy with the support of the imperialist.

He said they unleashed a rampage on the streets of Dhaka on October 28 in 2006, marking the beginning of the path to the murder of democracy and leading Bangladesh astray.

Maulana Abdul Hamid came up with the assertion while speaking as the chief guest at a Rukan Sammelan (conference) held at a community centre in Dinajpur town on Monday.

He said thousands of leaders and activists from Jamaat-e-Islami, Shibir, BNP, scholars, journalists, intellectuals, and countless members of the public have been killed, abducted, and murdered, while facing harassment through imprisonment, oppression, attacks, and lawsuits in the past 17 years. On August 5, the country was freed from fascism through a united mass movement conducted against their tyranny by the freedom-seeking students and people. The symbol of autocracy and fascism, Sheikh Hasina, fled the country.

He further said that currently, the members and leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami must play an effective role in organizing their activities while also working towards building a discrimination-free country and nation. To create a new Bangladesh based on integrity, competence, and justice, we must continue our united efforts with the people. With the determination to build a new Bangladesh, we want to move forward alongside the citizens of the country.
