BNP chairperson's adviser and former chief whip of the opposition Zainul Abdin Farroque on Monday demanded to ban Awami League as ousted Sheikh Hasina destroyed the country's constitutional institutions.

"Sheikh Hasina destroyed the country's democracy and constitutional institutions," he said while speaking at a discussion under the banner of 'Protibad' at Jatiya Press Club in the capital.

Farroque said Sheikh Mujibur Rahman did not want independence of the country rather he wanted to become Prime Minister through discussion with Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Yahya Khan.

He also said ousted Sheikh Hasina's government smuggled money out of the country, she must be brought to book.

He said the interim government must announce the road map for the elections within a reasonable time.

"The present government could not start the reforms in the last two months," he said.

He also demanded to recover the weapons looted during the anti-discrimination student movement. He urged the government to reform the Election Commission for holding a free, fair and neutral election in the country.

Adviser to BNP Chairperson Habibur Rahman Habib, Swechchhasebak affairs secretary Mir Sharafat Ali Safu and BNP central working committee member Nazrul Islam Molla, among others, spoke at the discussion.

President of 'Protibad' Md Ibrahim Hossain presided over the discussion while its General Secretary Md Nabi Hossain conducted the programme.
