The 'Bangla Moti’ (BRRI -50) paddy should be cultivated more and more to bring prosperity in every family.
BRRI-50 is commonly known as "Bangla Moti" which has the quality like Basmoti rice. The rice is scented and fine that attacks the farmers. Farmers should cultivate this paddy to be affluent.
Agricultural scientists and researchers made this observation on Thursday while they were addressing a rally in a "Farmers Field Day" hosted by Bangladesh Water Development Board ( BWDB) with the technical effort of Department of Agriculture Extension ( DAE) in Faridpur.
The program was arranged at Muraridah village of Kuizuri union under Sadar upazila of the district.
The program under the Bilshokunia sub project of South Western Project (phase -2) of BWDB was presided over by Abdul Latif Molla, President of Pani Unnayan Dal of Muraridah village.
Agricultarist Abul Hasem, of BWDB was the chief guest on the occasion. Dr. Mahatab Ali Executive Engineer (specialised department) of BWDB, Abdur Razzak, chief assistant engineer (social science) of BWDB, Upzila Agriculture Officer Abul Basar Mia and Md. Anwar Hossain of DAE and Adhir Biswas, among others, spoke on the program.
The speakers also emphasized on cultivating "Bangla Moti" paddy as the rice of it contains 8.2 per cent Protien which is very essential for human health.
Diffrent procedures and systems of cultivating Bangla Moti paddy have been exhibited by farmers on occassion. Prizes were also given among the best farmers in the village at the function.
