Farmers to get incentives for Aush cultivation in Gopalganj, Jashore

A total of 14,400 small and marginal farmers in eight upazilas of  Jashore district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agricultural incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for the cultivation of Ufshi Aush in the current Kharif-1 season. To increase the interest of farmers in Ufshi Aush cultivation, the amount of incentive support has been increased significantly in the district, official of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) said.

DAE official said that each farmer will get five kgs of Ufshi Aush seeds, 10 kgs of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and five kgs of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for cultivating Ufshi Aush on one bigha of land.

Of the total beneficiaries, 2,200 farmers are in Sadar upazila, 2,300 in Sharsha upazila, 1,800 in Jhikargachha, 1,800 in Chowgacha upazila, 1,200 in Abhaynagar upazila, 1,400 in Bagherpara upazila, 2,700 farmers in Monirampur upazila and 1,000 farmers  in Keshabpur upazila of the district. 

Distribution of seeds and fertilizers has already started, official of DAE said.

Rest of the seeds and fertilizers will be distributed very soon under the concerned Upazila Agriculture Office, official added.

BSS from Gopalganj adds: A total of 5,000 small and marginal farmers in five upazilas of the district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agricultural incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for the cultivation of Ufshi Aush in the current Kharif-1 season.

To increase the interest of farmers in Ufshi Aush cultivation, the amount of incentive support has been increased significantly in the district, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Abdul Quader Sardar said.

He said that each farmer will get five kgs of Ufshi Aush seeds, 10 kgs of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and five kgs of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for cultivating Ufshi Aush on one bigha of land.

Of the total beneficiaries, 1,000 farmers are in Sadar upazila, 1,000 in Muksudpur upazila, 1,000 in Kashiani upazila, 1,100 farmers in Kotalipara upazila and 900 farmers in Tungipara upazila of the district.

The distribution of the seeds and fertilizers will start very soon under the concerned Upazila Agriculture Office, he said.
