In the current Boro season, a program has been taken to make seedbeds in 7,806 hectares of land in Kishoreganj district. Boro paddy seedbed has set a target of cultivating 164,485 hectares of land this year.
Seedbed has been prepared in 2,018 hectares of land till November 23. Seedbed making is in full swing in Kishoreganj Haor area. Farmers are passing busy time.
Farmers are taking various precautionary measures to prevent these seedbeds from getting cold injuries due to severe cold and dense fog. Farmers are also working to protect the seedbed on the advice of the Department of Agriculture.
Farmers in Karimganj, Itna, Mithamin, Ashtagram, Tarail, Nikli and Bajitpur upazilas of the district are working hard to make Boro paddy seedbeds. So far the farmers are not facing any loss due to fog in the wide Haor.
Department of Agricultural Extension Deputy Director Md Saiful Alam said that, seedbed has been made in 2018 hectare land in Kishoreganj district till now. Seedlings are in good condition. So far the farmers have not faced any loss in making the seedbed.
