Raozan farmers are busy cultivating winter vegetables. All kinds of winter vegetables including cauliflower, cabbage, chili, native tomato, gourd, bean, radish, native onion, red shallot are adorning the field.
Raozan Agriculture Office said, this time in Rauzan Upazila, target of cultivating winter vegetableson on 1450 hectares of land has been set. I went to visit and saw that the farmers of the upazila are now spending busy time in the cultivation of various kinds of vegetables in the winter season.
Most of the land on the bank of Kanshkhali canal is being cultivated for farming vegetables. And every year, winter vegetables worth crores of taka are produced in the cropland of Kanshkhali canal, which supplies the country's food needs.
Ismail, a farmer in Kanshkhali said he has invested about 1.0 lakh taka in winter vegetables farming this year. He said if the yield is good he will get a good profit. Upazila Agriculture Officer Masum Kabir said winter vegetables have been cultivated in 14 unions and one municipality of Raozan Upazila. This will exceed the planting target.
