Farmer dies of snakebite in Jamalpur

A farmer ­was killed after getting bitten by a snake at Char Nalshan­dha village under Pingna union of Sarishabari Upazila in Jamalpur on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Babul Mia, 50, son of Izzat Ali Mandal, resident of the area. Family sources of the deceased said A snake bit Babul Mia on Tuesday noon when he was returning home from his field. The snake was on the aisle of a paddy field. 

However, hearing his screaming, locals rushed to the spot and took him to his house where he received Ayurvedic treatment. 

Later, he was taken to Upazila Health Complex where on duty doctor declared him dead.

Nasima Begum, wife of the deceased, said that her husband was bitten by a snake in a field near to their house. 

Later, they rushed to the spot but could not see the snake, she added.

On duty doctor of the Upazila Health Complex, Mehedi Hasan, said a patient of snakebite came to the health complex at afternoon. However, he was brought dead. The patient was brought at the hospital after quite a long time after the incidence of snakebite. The type of the snake could not be idehntified.
