The farewell ceremony of Pro-Vice Chancellor (Pro-VC) of Islamic University Prof Dr M Shahinoor Rahman was held on the campus in Kushtia on Monday.
Islamic University authorities organised the farewell ceremony at conference room of the administrative building of the university.
IU Vice-Chancellor Prof Shaikh Abdus Salam spoke at the event as the chief guest with dean of IU Humanities and Social Science faculty Prof Sarwar Morshed in the chair.
Addressing the programme, the IU VC said that Dr Shahinoor Rahman was a sincere and devoted administrator at the university. His contribution for Islamic University would remain alive among the teachers, students, officials and employees of the university. He would work for building an educated and civil society through his teaching, he hoped.
Dean of Theology and Islamic Studies faculty Prof Dr M Solaiman, former dean of Biological Sciences faculty Prof Dr M Anwarul Haque Swapon, president of IU unit of Bangabandhu Parishad Prof Dr Mahbubur Rahman, secretary Prof Dr Mahbubul Arfin and IU Proctor Prof Dr Jahangir Hossain attended the farewell ceremony, among others.
Dr Shahinoor Rahman had been serving as Pro-Vice Chancellor at Islamic University from February 20, 2013 to February 22, 2021.
He begin his career as a lecturer in the English discipline at Khulna University at the age of 24. He served as Associate Instructor at the Indiana University, Bloomington, USA. He had been the Chairman of the Department of English and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Islamic University. He also served as a professor in the Department of English at Jagannath University. He worked as a Syndicate Member at Islamic University and Jagannath University and Khulna University.
