It is simply amazing that World Cup 2022 in Doha has enormously attracted football fans from all over the world with thousands of international football fans gracing the magnanimous carnival in Doha of Qatar since the ‘Greatest Show on Earth’ kicked off in the Middle Eastern country on November 20.
Despite the group stage being over yesterday night, thousands of anxious fans from different countries are till now travelling in Doha and waiting to watch the knock-out stage matches, whether their teams are in or out of the fray.
The fans are seen waiting at the Metro Rail station, different bus stations when some of the fans also visiting the tourism area, like the sea side, National Museum of Qatar, Museum of Islamic Art, Doha’s Coastal Road (Croniche), Doha Festival City, The Pearl From Above and Qatar Cultural Village Beach.
Almost from morning to midnight the travellers are seen at the metro station waiting for trains to their destination. The football fans here to watch the World Cup are also enjoying themselves by visiting the beautiful and historic and cultural places in Qatar.
This correspondent of Bangladesh Post, when travelling to the different venues of the World Cup by Metro Rail and other public transportations had quick chat with some of the European (Spanish, German and Polish) Brazilian, Argentine and Asian (Korea, Japan, India, even from Bangladesh and Indonesian travellers, who are here in Doha to watch world Cup match, are also enjoying some of the scenic beauty of the desert country.
A couple from Japan, who were returning to their hotel after watching their team’s match against Spain, had a quick chat with this correspondent on Thursday night at Metro station Al Bidda.
Both the fans, Maya Moriyasha and Takumi Kubo looked overwhelmed while they waited for a train at the station where this correspondent was also present.
‘’Wonderful, we are returning from the Khalifa International Stadium, really, our joys know no bounds, it’s just unbelievable and outstanding, what a wonderful result. We moved into the knock-out phase. It’s great to turn the match in your favour after trailing by a goal down against the team like Spain, the former World Cup winners.’’
‘’We did not even think that we could get over it. But Risto Doan Ao Tanaka did a stunning job.’’
Takumi Kubo, one of the Japanese duo, also cited their stunning victory over Germany in the opening match as a mind blowing performance, said, ‘’You see, it’s really very coincidental as it’s the same stadium, same result,similar outstanding victory.
Meanwhile, after beating Germany in the opener, Japan worked its way into the round of 16 of the World Cup on Thursday by defeating Spain 2-1, the same score as last week, at the Khalifa International Stadium.
It’s the first time Japan has advanced past the group stage in back-to-back tournaments.
