Fakhrul, 51 others relieved of explosive case

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 51 leaders and activists of the party were discharged from the charges filed in 2015 under the Explosives Substance Act.

Judge Qudrat EIlahi of Dhaka 15th Special Tribunal on Thursday discharged the accused from the case after  defence side at the hearing pleaded to discharge them, saying there is no substantial materials in the case that can make the court indict them. Meanwhile, October 24 was fixed for holding a hearing on charge framing in the case filed with the Paltan Police Station.

The other BNP leaders included -Barkatullah Bulu, Amanullah Aman, Zainul Abdin Farroque, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Abdul Awal Mintoo, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Mir Sorafat Ali Sopu, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anney, Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Saiful Islam Nirob and Dr AZM Zahid Hossain.

  Earlier, on January 6, 2015, police filed a case against the accused for hurling crude bombs at law enforcers from a BNP procession, vandalizing vehicles and setting those on fire.
