Police arrested a fake ASP with police uniform and seized a laptop from his possession at Daratana area in Jashore district town on Thursday afternoon.
OC (Investigation) of Jashore Kotwali Model Police Station Samir Kumar Sarker confirmed the matter.
The arrestee was identified as Rakesh Ghosh, 30, son of Sontosh Ghosh of Bohilapota village in Chaugacha upazila of Jashore district.
Police sources said on a tip-off, a team of police led by Sub-Inspector Shahidul Alom had raided in the area on Thursday afternoon and arrested him. The arrestee introduced himself as ASP and protocol officer of Inspector General of Police (IGP).He confessed that he was involved with cheating activities for a long time while interrogation by the police.
A case was filed with Jashore Kotwali Model thana police in this regard.
