Hundreds arrested while holding anti-state meetings

The anti-liberation forces, extremist groups and different vested quarters reportedly are trying to unify in an attempt to go against the government and the state.

Reports say that such groups are found to be involved in various anti-state activities, hatching conspiracies, subversive acts and spreading rumours against the government as well as the state.

According to sources, such groups are said to be engaged in tarnishing the good reputation of the government and attempting to destabilize the government by spreading propaganda and hence misinform the public about the leadership of the state.

Such evil and malicious acts are being attempted when the nation, under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is marching on the road to earning the status of a middle-income country. Over 30 mega projects are in progress which, once completed, would change the scenario of the country but such wicked groups cannot tolerate the good image of the leader.

Sources said, Jamaat-e-Islami, its student’s body Islami Chhatra Shibir, family members and allies of the killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, different extremists’ groups and vested other quarters, including the anti-liberation forces are conspiring to topple the government.

Sources from different agencies said, as part of the conspiracies and ill-motivate activities, those anti-state forces are holding secrete meetings to plot subversive acts, spreading rumours against government and the state in view of tarnishing the image of the government and the country.

Accordingly, different extremists’ groups like Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), Ansar-al-Islam and Ansarullah Bangla Team, all of who had gone into hiding in the face of a police drive, are said to be re-emerging to plan operations that may destabilize the country.

According to sources, at least 10 secret meetings in progress, organised by Jamaat and Shibir, were busted in last few months while over 150 leaders and activists, including Jamaat’s secretary general Mia Golam Parwar were also caught red handed attending such meetings.

Meanwhile, a large number of leaders and activists of Hefazat-e-Islam, JMB, Ansar-al-Islam and Ansarullah Bangla Team were also arrested while they were getting prepared for committing crimes.

Local sources and police said Jamaat and Shibir men remain busy with holding secrete meetings with their ill-intensions of committing subversive acts. They are hatching conspiracies against the government as well as against the state.

As part of their continuous conspiracies and planning of subversive acts, police in a latest move on September 6 arrested 10 central leaders of Jamaat and Shibir from the capital’s Vatara. All those detained Jamaat-Shibir leaders are now on police remand.

Vatara police in its remand prayer before the court mentioned that the Jamaat-Shibir men were gathered at a meeting with their ill-motivated attempt of harming public security and endangering the country’s sovereignty.

The Jamaat-Shibir men were also hatching conspiracies in an attempt of ousting the government illegally and were trying to make the country instable.

For the same reasons, police in Nilphamari on the same day (September 6) arrested 28 leaders of Jamaat-Shibir.

Earlier on September 1, police in Rajshahi arrested two Shibir leaders, Rangpur police on August 26 arrested 10 Jamaat leaders, Chapainababganj police arrested 20 leaders of Jamaat-Shibir, Chattogram Police on July 27 arrested 27 leaders of Jamaat-Shibir, Nilphamari Police on May 27 arrested 10 Jamaat leaders, police in Kushtia on December 6 last year arrested five women leaders of Jamaat, Sirajganj police on July 31 arrested six leaders and activists of Jamaat-Shibir.

Besides, the Jamaat leaders are also always speaking against the arrest of leaders of extremist group Hefazat-e-Islam, which had been carrying out vandalism and anarchies across the country for making the country instable.

Moreover, Jamaat Secretary General Golam Parwar earlier at a meeting held last October held in the capital Dhaka said that there is no alternative to toppling down the government.

According to sources, apart from the conspiracies against the government and state, Jamaat-e-Islami also remains active against the installation of a statute of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at home and abroad. They are working like extremist Islamist group Hefazat-e-Islam.

Jamaat Ameer (Chief) Dr Shafiqur Rahman earlier on December 6 last year in a press release tried to discourage Turkey from installation of a statue of Bangabandhu in its capital Ankara.

He told that Turkey was working against Islam by installing a state of Bangabandhu.

He urged the Turkey government so that it does not install the statue of Bangabandhu.

Intelligence sources said being influenced by the recent up rise of Taliban militants in Afghanistan, Jamaat-Shibir leaders and activists linking with other religious fanatics are also hatching conspiracy to make unrest in Bangladesh.

As part of their ill motives, many of their leaders and activists have launched their secret movement, including clandestine meetings in secret hideouts in the capital and other parts of the country, it said.

However, intelligence sources said their blueprints to carry out sabotage have been shattered as they have been caught before. Their blueprints had been highlighted recently after confessional statements given by several of their party activists arrested in different places of the country.

Official sources in the Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Detective Branch (DB), Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) also said that they remain alert against all kinds of conspiracies and militant acts.

As per information, they arrested at least 45 suspected militants in Dinajpur while many others were arrested at different parts of the country recently.
